Why I blog

I was sweetly nominated by my dear friend Amy Christie to talk about why I blog.  To be perfectly honest, I've never really identified as a blogger.  I'm working on that - as blogging is my primary means of communication - but I began a blog because people who saw me on television or read an article in a magazine needed a 'home base' to find more of my ideas.

In an effort to not bore those of you who came for a cocktail {cheers!}, we'll continue this conversation after the jump.

Why do I write?
I don't actually write.  I try to keep my words to a minimum.  Mostly I find my readers come to find a great cocktail or just see some pretty ideas for a little while.  I'm a distraction in the day.  And I'm ok with that.  I hope that you leave my site feeling chipper and ready to party.

In real life, I love to tell a story - and I almost always have a story.  I'm getting better about sharing that online a little more.  Get ready for more stories.

What am I working on?
I'm working on being good at life.  I'm working on a positive attitude all the time.  I'm working on being patient with my children.  I'm working on loving the rain.

But on the blog, I'm working on 2015!  We have our holiday ideas done, we're shooting Thanksgiving, and we are wrapping up some client projects with short timelines.

How does my blog differ from others in my genre?
My blog serves loads of purposes.  The main source of income for my little business has nothing to do with the blog.  The blog is my portfolio.  The blog is my hobby.  The blog is a resting place for recipes and cocktails that I share on television {every other Tuesday on Q13 FOX!}.  The blog gives me something to do everyday other than worry about school PTA board.

Other "entertaining" blogs focus soley on providing a myriad of ideas everyday.  I hope that I provide ideas but mostly I want to provide inspiration and encouragement that we can all celebrate and have fun everyday.

How does my writing process work?
I spend a lot of time in my head working things out.  When I have to write something specific - like this - I usually have bandied about several different ways to approach it before deciding on one.  Then there are days when a song is stuck in my head and the only way to fix it is by blogging.  I know a lot of real writers and authors who complain about writers block and the inability to find words.  I feel lucky that my "voice" is just free flow writing to compliment images.  My story is in the images.

I'm passing the baton to one of my very favorite people {even though she's an Oregon Duck} Melissa from Lulu the Baker  and my East Coast partner in crime Katie Meyers of Meyers Styles

Smooches ladies!
